ET_BLOGS

The main reasons why we are starting ET_BLOGS are to explore, discover, and reflect on where God is calling us, both on a personal level and as a church. We want to create a space that gives us the freedom to discuss the things that we learn and struggle with. Sometimes these will be reflections from sermons, community activities, or even personal times of silence and solitude with God.

ET_BLOGS isn’t meant to be a place where we necessarily provide answers and theological doctrines, although you may find your theology stretched. It isn’t meant to simply update you on church activities, although you may be invited to join in. It isn’t just to make you more aware of community issues, although you may start to see God as much in the community as you do in the church. The hope of this space is that you will engage with us as we journey together in fully responding to who God is. We plan to have some regular contributors and some guest writers from time to time.

If you would also like to contribute to ET_BLOGS, please contact [email protected].

By: John W. The message of doing crazy things at the 2015 English Fall retreat, Inspire, really resonated with me. This takes me back to, possibly, the only two sermons I remember: April 21, 2013 (Pastor Tim) and April 26, 2015 (Norman). To summarize: Pastor Tim called on all the boys about doing missions and...

On the eve of Missions Month here at ET, I find myself thinking about one particular guest speaker: Eric Frans from World Relief.  Even though I remember what he spoke about and had us ask ourselves, “what’s your mission?”; it’s the Q+A session that really sticks with me. The question posed to him was about...

By: Bethany L. As part of my summer internship at ETCBC, Pastor Tim encouraged me to read Mark Buchanan’s book  Spiritual Rhythm.  His book describes one’s spiritual journey through the seasons of the year: winter, spring, summer, and fall. Spring signifies hope and renewal, while summer represents the fullness of the kingdom and an abundance...

How will I live differently after this experience? I don’t want this week to be over and I just go back to my normal life like it was a one-time event. ...

The last 12 hours of my last day of GLC were definitely the hardest of the week because I only had one meal for the whole day.  I expected it would...

I’m definitely learning a lot during this GLC week.  For example, I’ve learned where the refried bean paste in our local burritos comes from, after making my onion-free black beans.  And,...

Only two more days to go and I think I’m starting to get used to black beans and rice!  I did make my second batch without the onions and garlic, only...
