ET_BLOGS

The main reasons why we are starting ET_BLOGS are to explore, discover, and reflect on where God is calling us, both on a personal level and as a church. We want to create a space that gives us the freedom to discuss the things that we learn and struggle with. Sometimes these will be reflections from sermons, community activities, or even personal times of silence and solitude with God.

ET_BLOGS isn’t meant to be a place where we necessarily provide answers and theological doctrines, although you may find your theology stretched. It isn’t meant to simply update you on church activities, although you may be invited to join in. It isn’t just to make you more aware of community issues, although you may start to see God as much in the community as you do in the church. The hope of this space is that you will engage with us as we journey together in fully responding to who God is. We plan to have some regular contributors and some guest writers from time to time.

By: Rosie Y. For more information about PILAS and my short-term missions trip, please check out my prayer letter.  You can also support PILAS by donating online on my fundraising web page. Today I discovered something else I take for granted in my “privilege” (see Day 2’s post) that I didn’t know I had until now – chewing gum!  After...

By: Rosie Y. For more information about PILAS and my short-term missions trip, please check out my prayer letter and fundraising web page.   Today hit 30-something degrees celsius in Toronto, probably close to 40 with the humidity – walking home from work, I was dying for an ice cream.  Or even an iced tea.  This is the perfect weather for...

By: Rosie Y. Today’s sermon topic at church was about privilege and entitlement.  The speaker explained that one sign of privilege is that you don’t even realize you’re privileged – for example, living in a world where things are mostly designed for right-handed people.  That’s great for right-handed people, not so great for left-handed people...

By Rosie Y. I confess that the previous night, I went out for Japanese omakase (tasting menu), an 8-course meal that completely stuffed us.  It wasn’t planned that way, but it’s ironic that I would begin my GLC fast with an extravagant dinner of abundant and delicious food.  By contrast, here’s what I’ll be eating...

By: Rosie Y. Tomorrow is the first day of my GLC (Guatemalan Life Challenge) week!  If you haven’t already heard about this, please check out my prayer letter and my fundraising web page. I’ll be sharing more about this experience, and what led me to undertake this, throughout the week – so stay tuned! Please also...

By: Tony That’s the fear we all seem to have, and not without its reasons.  Over a million dollars to build, taking more years than we thought to finish, all happening while we struggle to keep our church going.  Our uncertainty is now compounded with our decision to borrow money from our church membership and...

By: Pastor Sam In my late teens, I went to my first NHL game watching the Leafs play against the Senators at the Corel Centre (now Scotiabank Place).  After seeing professional hockey live, I found it difficult to go back to just watching on TV or listening to the play-by-play on the radio.  On TV,...

By: Imelda When people ask me why I’m leaving Toronto again, I sometimes joke that moving so often as a child has made me restless. However, the real reason is that I have been following a series of promptings and the doors have simply opened outside my hometown. Each move has been a mini leap...

By: Pastor Sam Christmas at ET in the past has been filled with frantic emails to tri-congregational committees about setting up our crowded Inner Court celebration, scarily standing on top of a ladder putting up the Christmas photo board at the last minute, and standing in line at T&T buying all the cake loaves they...
