ET_BLOGS

The main reasons why we are starting ET_BLOGS are to explore, discover, and reflect on where God is calling us, both on a personal level and as a church. We want to create a space that gives us the freedom to discuss the things that we learn and struggle with. Sometimes these will be reflections from sermons, community activities, or even personal times of silence and solitude with God.

ET_BLOGS isn’t meant to be a place where we necessarily provide answers and theological doctrines, although you may find your theology stretched. It isn’t meant to simply update you on church activities, although you may be invited to join in. It isn’t just to make you more aware of community issues, although you may start to see God as much in the community as you do in the church. The hope of this space is that you will engage with us as we journey together in fully responding to who God is. We plan to have some regular contributors and some guest writers from time to time.

If you would also like to contribute to ET_BLOGS, please contact [email protected].

By: Jer Every day, I get the opportunity to journey with students as they work through their struggles, whatever they may be. Sometimes it’s mental health, other times it’s school, but most of the time, it’s family.  I regularly hear students share about how difficult it is with their families, things that go way beyond...

By: Jer In my last post, I brought up the question:  “God, how are You revealing Yourself through those around me?”  I had a chance to reflect on my day with this question, but it felt a bit too general.  Something happened.  I started to make the question personal.  I asked:  “God, how are You...

By: Jer One of the questions I’ve been asking God is:  “How are you revealing yourself in the people I encounter?”  It’s a question that I don’t always ask, whether out loud or in my head.  The questions I might normally ask when I enter into a situation include:  “God, how are you working?”, “God,...

By: Tracy It’s been 17 months since we’ve heard the beautiful sounds of worship echo through the walls of the Inner Court. Since we were able to laugh and converse over food in the kitchen. Since we could share the space of Inner Court. 17 hard, intense and stressful months. The growing pains of a 3...

By: Jer Reflecting on Tim’s sermon this past week, it seems like there is just so much to do trying to live the right way.  You could do the rituals and routines, but to really make sure your heart is in the right place, that’s hard.  It’s a huge challenge to really live the way...

By: Albert I’m sure it means something to you if you have been part of ETCBC at some point within the last 4 years. From conception to the current construction midpoint, our building project has involved many volunteer hours, meetings, and votes. Whether you’ve been a distant bystander or a committee member, I’m sure it...

It’s Missions Month here at ET and, having grown up in the Church, we talk about missions a little differently from most churches.  We talk about kingdom, calling, vocation and reconciliation; not just the Great Commission and proselytizing.  And what I love most about this is that we tell stories.  Their remote village in the...

By: Jer As I am in the beginning phases of this journey, I wish I could report that I had another fantastic week of reflection and prayer.  Unfortunately, I can’t.  Sure, I have been busy, but there were definitely moments when I chose to watch sports, read a book, or just do random things, when...

By: Willi My memory generally doesn’t serve me very well, but some things just stick.  I had agreed to help out Barb and Gerry document some of the stories they have heard from families over the years. During my first trip to Guatemala, we were wrapping up filming an interview at the home of a...
