ET_BLOGS

The main reasons why we are starting ET_BLOGS are to explore, discover, and reflect on where God is calling us, both on a personal level and as a church. We want to create a space that gives us the freedom to discuss the things that we learn and struggle with. Sometimes these will be reflections from sermons, community activities, or even personal times of silence and solitude with God.

ET_BLOGS isn’t meant to be a place where we necessarily provide answers and theological doctrines, although you may find your theology stretched. It isn’t meant to simply update you on church activities, although you may be invited to join in. It isn’t just to make you more aware of community issues, although you may start to see God as much in the community as you do in the church. The hope of this space is that you will engage with us as we journey together in fully responding to who God is. We plan to have some regular contributors and some guest writers from time to time.

If you would also like to contribute to ET_BLOGS, please contact [email protected].

By: Jer One of the main components of the Arrow Leadership program is to create a leadership plan.  As part of my plan, I have decided to commit myself to the discipline of writing weekly.  If you haven’t noticed by now, any kind of planning, structure, or discipline does not come naturally for me.  It...

By: Annie Pastor Tim recently accused me of being a “big sister” after I took Shelby out for lunch on my week off.  I brushed it off, but it’s been nagging at me ever since.  Even Shelby asked why “adults” take her out so much, but I just saw it as having lunch with a...

By: Tracy L.   During the 3rd week of Advent, we talked about how this week is different from the rest of the weeks.   We reflected on the “Joy” of Advent. Of course, I am a curious one, so I started digging a little bit and came across a passage that was regularly used...

By: Jeremy N.   You know that Staples button with the phrase “that was easy”?  I’ve been thinking about that a lot since I’ve been back from Arrow.  Coming back, I was expecting things to be easier.  I was looking forward to seeing God at work and having all these stories to tell.  Not that...

By: Tracy L. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters… ~ Colossians 3:23, NIV Whatever, you do. Do it for the bigger picture, and not for your own glory, but for God’s.    This was the resounding message I heard today [Dec 18]...

This past Sunday, we spent some time in communal prayer for our Nehemiah Project.  As we were praying through the Psalms, this particular call stood out, “Be still, and know that I am God.”   For me, when things aren’t easy, when they take a bit longer than they should, when it takes more effort than...

At small group last night, a couple of people brought up their reservations about the importance of the info booklet.  Is it a true and comprehensive reflection of their intentions and motivations?  Are they even aware of what is the scope of their role?  The obvious answer is no (to a certain degree) and we...

Life was unusually hectic for me over the last year.  I was volunteering with two arts organizations and working a second job among other things.  Up until now, I must confess, I’ve taken our volunteers at ET for granted.  I’ve never experienced this level of mental and physical exhaustion before.  More than that, compared to...

Over the last few months, some challenging conversations were happening.  Emotions were flying high, people were feeling hurt, discouraged, even angry.  And I was getting caught up in it, worrying over what the outcome would be.  “Don’t worry.”  And she was right.  She’s always right. I don’t know why, but even though Pastor Janet reminds...
