Nehemiah Project Update – March 2013

East Toronto Chinese Baptist Church > Blog > Nehemiah Project Update – March 2013

It’s been an eventful start to the new year so far…here’s what’s been happening behind the scenes!

First, a special thanks to Hazel Tenefrancia for designing the logo for this project!  She did a great job of incorporating the project vision, the centrality of Christ and the building layout redesign into the logo!

In February, we finalized our service contract with the architect and interior design firm, Dialogue38 Inc.  With a clear direction now, D38 is heading to their drawing boards to work on the technical drawings for our church renovation.

At the beginning of March, after reviewing 3 service proposals from engineering consulting firms, we selected Buchan, Lawton & Patent Consulting Engineers to assist D38 with the mechanical, structural and electrical aspects of our renovation.

Also in March, we hired Impact Energy Services Inc., to perform an energy audit on our church facility.  Because our church is an old, factory conversion, there are many energy INEFFICIENCIES that we can all feel and see when we use the building.  The energy audit will provide a thorough analysis of where we are wasting energy and hence, wasting money on our monthly utility bills.  Their recommendations will provide us insight into both simple, inexpensive measures to improve energy efficiency as well as more complex, costly initiatives that can be a part of the larger Nehemiah Renovation Project.

In April, we will be kickstarting our Fundraising initiative to really get the ball rolling!…stay tuned!!
